The transition from Lowe's to CMA was prompted by a shift in Lowe's corporate direction, which no longer aligned with Jesse's values of putting people first. After leaving Lowe's, Jesse faced unemployment before joining CMA, where her mother also worked. She found many parallels between her previous role and her new position at CMA, particularly in production management, customer service, and relationship building.
Jesse's mother played a crucial role in her move to CMA, where she worked in parts for The Body Shop. Jesse initially joined Williamsburg Ford, a single-owned store, before CMA acquired it. She appreciated the opportunity to work in a company that valued its employees and offered room for growth, contrasting with his previous experience at a smaller dealership with limited advancement opportunities.
Working with her mother was rewarding and challenging, as they had to navigate their personal and professional dynamics. Jesse focuses on serving her team at CMA, ensuring a safe work environment, and continuously improving customer service through empathy and engagement. Her personal challenges, including job loss and her mother's passing, have fostered resilience and compassion, helping her connect with customers and colleagues alike. Jesse also emphasizes the importance of reflection in leadership, using her CliftonStrengths themes to tailor her approach to problem-solving and team management.
Enjoyed this and would have also liked to hear one or two specific examples of how she used her strengths in the workplace.
